The Empire Diner in New York's Chelsea neighborhood is a classic. This iconic dining establishment has been featured in many films from Woody Allen's Manhattan to Men in Black. Growing up around the corner, we were told to "stay away from that place" in the 1970s, before it was the cool hipster landmark that it is now. If any image conjures up the feeling of home and nostalgia for me, it is definitely this place and the "EAT" sign above it.
