Description
The Hyacinth Macaw is the largest parrots in the world. All of its feathers are entirely bright blue but there is a yellow ring around its eye and in an area just under its beak. These guys mostly eat Brazil nuts, which they can crack themselves with their very strong beaks. They can even crack a coconut. Note to self: do not get fingers near this guy's beak. Oh, and if you decide to get one as a pet, be prepared to pay upwards of $10,000 and you'll need a custom built stainless steel cage as these guys can chew right through any commercial bird cage. This image was shot at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park.
